Here’s how you can deal with a Dental Emergency
Pain or sensitivity in teeth can happen due to any reason. Further, it can come suddenly, though the majority of dental problems take months to evolve (or even years). Any sudden dental pain requires immediate dental care from an emergency room or a dentist.
However, it is not easy to decide if a dental problem requires emergency care or not, given the awareness gap. More recently, a survey revealed that the majority of Americans are incapable of handling a dental health emergency.
So here we want to draw your attention to the situations that are considered dental emergencies and we also discuss how you can handle these problems.
Excessive bleeding due to tongue or lip bite. An accidental bite on any soft tissue of the mouth, including lip and tongue, should be first cleaned and then a cold compress should be applied to reduce the swelling. If the bleeding still persists, medical attention is required.
Broken or cracked tooth. You must call the dentist immediately if you find yourself dealing with a broken or cracked tooth. While you arrange for emergency care, properly wash your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress outside the affected area.
Damaged braces. This is not something to be taken lightly. Damaged braces can only be mended by an orthodontist. So, call yours immediately.
Injury to the jaw. A broken jaw should be examined by a dentist as this can lead to other complications. Meanwhile, put a cold compress over the affected area until you get the required medical attention.

Knocked-out teeth. In case your tooth is knocked out, rinse clean its roots by holding it from its crown. Whatever you do, do not scrub the tooth or de-attach the tissues pieces stuck to it. If the tooth has come out, we recommend keeping it in milk, as the latter serves as a preservative. Though these are not a substitute for proper medical care.
Lost filling. If your filling or crown has come out, put it in a safe place in case if either of them falls out. Take an immediate appointment with the dentist. Applying clove oil can reduce the sensitivity to a good extent. Though you are still advised to take the help of a dentist before trying anything.
Here’s how to get rid of things stuck between your teeth. Dental floss can remove anything that is stuck between the teeth. If it still doesn’t get pulled out, do seek the help of your dentist.

Pericoronitis. Pericoronitis is a type of tooth infection that spreads when the teeth do not fit into the mouth properly. This condition is associated with symptoms like swollen and irritated gums or a bad taste in the mouth, a bad breath, or the inability to fully opening the mouth call for an immediate dental check-up.
Sudden toothache. The toothache can be calmed down by cleaning the mouth with warm water. If the pain is due to something lodged between your teeth, try flossing. In case if the ache still persists, you must call your dentist.
