Warren Dentist, Dr. Apsey, explains digital X-rays
I’m Dr. Gregory Apsey, in Warren, Michigan, and I would like to talk with you today about a new technology that we’ve introduced in our office. And that is digital radiography, or digital X-rays. There’s been a need for it throughout the profession for a long time, and basically what it is it’s a way we can reduce the amount of radiation our patients receive in order for us to get this very important diagnostic information.
An x-ray, of course, shows us places, areas in the mouth that we just cannot see by looking around, and poking around, with our mirror and explorer. So, we need the x-rays, but we’re conscious of the fact that, every time we do x-rays on a patient, they are receiving some amount of radiation. So, what is nice about digital x-rays, is that it allows us to get the same information, if not more, with half the radiation. So, let me just give you an example.
Of course, I was the first patient in our office who had digital x-rays, and these are my x-rays. But what I like about them is not only did it take less radiation for us to capture these images, but I can go into my computer and I can just double click on the x-ray and I can blow it up and really see some detail information. There’s things that I can do to, I can enhance the image. And so what’s nice is that I’m also able to diagnose problems really early. So a cavity that’s just beginning we can detect it more easily with this type of technology. So it’s just 1 way that we’re trying to improve our office here in Warren, Michigan to give a better service to our patients, so thank you so much.
And we hope you come by and see us some time.
